Daripada satu seminar yang dianjurkan oleh DOSH baru-baru ini telah mengatakan bahawa...akan datang OSHA 1994 akan mula dikuatkuasakan disemua Jabatan Kerajaan...maknanya PPKP unit KPAS hendaklah bersedia daripada sekarang....

Dengan kata lain biar cair OSHA 1994 & FMA 1987 & Regulations.

Well i got some few tips and guidelines regarding of OSH subjects,
1. General Health and safety
2. Risk assessment
3. Risk rating
4. Formats for risk assessment
5. Health and safety at work
6. Work related illness, injuries and diseases
7. Work accidents, types of accidents, causes of accidents
8. Types of accidents to be reported
9. Occupational poisoning
10. Fire safety
11. Work Equipment
12. Machinery safety
13. Physical, biological and chemical hazard (noise, heat, cold, snakebite, ergonomics, vapouring, mutegenic substances, and so on)
14. Manual handling and lifting
15. Electricity

From what i see in the ground level JKKP meetings, the issue discussed are more to security rather than safety. This is what happens if we put the blank doctors to chair the JKKP then the qualified PPKP in OSH as the number two or three.

Last friday ( 28/3/08 ) they call me for this JKKP meeting in KK Kampar. They keep voicing up the same problem that what they think is harmful to health while working. Malfunctioning door locks, grill for windows, shades from carpark to the office building are not the intellectual points to represent OSH in our workplace, though it is seem to have relation.

We are looking for example, dusty and damp workplace leads to asthma, poor visibility by not enough lighting, lack of sunlight in room, carpet cleanliness, fresh air, make sure right person handling the right stuff (like drivers not suppose to handle fogging machines), make sure staff complying to wear safety boots, earplugs, goggle while mowing grass, identifying if the work condition is too hot, too cold, noisy workplace can make worker lose concentration in work and lead to accidents or emotional sickness.

So to my fellow JKKP SU's, what i'm trying to tell is let's just ignore if the matters is more likely to security. Leave it to the security guard lah! I believe we got plenty of technical work to do. Don't let them slowly turn PPKP into SECURICOR.
